High Level Dialogue on Protected Area Governance for Livelihood Security and Biodiversity Conservation in Southern Africa

IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the Republic of Namibia are convening a High Level Dialogue on Protected Area Governance for Livelihood Security and Biodiversity Conservation in Southern Africa (SADC countries). The dialogue will take place in Windhoek, Namibia, on the 21st and 22nd of May 2014  and will be opened by Honorable Uahekua Herunga, Minister for Environment and Tourism, Republic of Namibia.

TFCA Portal User Manual

This is the draft version of the manual. We expect this manual to be updated after the initial comments are received by the users. The manual contains procedures and tasks that a user of the TFCA Portal can perform. Also the manual shall be updated later on to include the procedures required by Portal Administrators.

SADC TFCA Network Description

The SADC Protocol on Wildlife Conservation and Law Enforcement (1999) defines a transfrontier conservation area (TFCA) as “the area or component of a large ecological region that straddles the boundaries of two or more countries encompassing one or more protected areas as well as multiple use areas” and commits SADC Member States “to promote the conservation of shared wildlife resources through the establishment of TFCAs” (Article 4, objective 2f).
