Development of a Community Based Fire Management Plan for the communities of the Nyika TFCA

Overall objective

  • To ensure the sustainable management of natural resources through the development of Community Based Fire Management Plans for the communities of the Nyika TFCA

Results to be achieved and their indicators to measure the progress and success of the planned activities

The following results will be achieved through the implementation of the planned activities of the project:

Result 1: Community based fire management plans developed

  • Number of Community Based Fire Management Plans produced and being implemented (This will assist to improve the current situation as it will reduce the number of unplanned fires)

 

Result 2: Community members trained in fire management

  • Number of training days for fire management of which 20% training days must have been received by women (Training will improve the situation as it will equip the community with knowledge on fire management)

 

Result 3: Communication on fire management disseminated through community radio stations and publicity materials produced in local languages and English

  • Number of radio programmes conducted on the community radio station and number of sign posts set up in the community on fire management (This indicator will improve the current situation as it will ensure information is made available to a broader spectrum of the community and will also provide information on the negative aspects of unplanned fires on natural resources)
