Britta Hackenberg is a Senior Technical Advisor of the research department at the Namibia Nature Foundation, based in Windhoek.
Britta is a passionate female conservationist with an MSc degree in Sustainable Forestry and Land Use Management, an Engineer degree in Landscape Design and 20 years’ work experience in the field, mostly in the KAZA landscape. She is currently pursuing a PhD in sustainable development at the University of Stellenbosch. Her expertise covers a wide range from forestry, land use planning, tenure rights, conservation agriculture, livelihood development to protected areas management She supported the extension of the CBNRM program from conservancies and community forests to community fisheries, and expansion to other countries, including Zambia and Angola.
Britta is an alumnus of the Transforming Change Program of the Stockholm Center for Resilience; a member of the IUCN Eastern and Southern Africa Committee, a member of the IUCN Green List expert team in Southern Africa and the Gender and Biodiversity Focal Point of Namibia.
