Key Responsibilities
The position involves designing participatory MEL processes, customizing support for partners, and developing tools and frameworks to enable organizations to independently improve their MEL systems. ​ The manager will guide partners in defining indicators, integrating livelihoods metrics, and promoting data use for decision-making. ​ Additionally, the role includes fostering a community of MEL best practices, supporting internal MEL system development, and contributing to organizational learning. ​ Emphasis is placed on building capacity within the portfolio team and ensuring data quality and effective use.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should have 7-10 years of relevant experience, with expertise in building MEL systems for local organizations, especially in community-led conservation or natural resource management in Africa. ​ Knowledge of participatory approaches, Theory of Change, livelihoods monitoring, and familiarity with CRM platforms like Excel and Salesforce are essential. ​ Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French, Swahili, or Portuguese is advantageous. ​ Strong facilitation, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are critical, along with adaptability, humor, and a passion for conservation impact.
